ASL is the language used by many Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals in the U.S and is one of the top 4 used languages in the country. It is a moving, 3-dimensional language with a deep history, complex culture, and unique linguistics. There is no written form. It is not easier to learn than any other world language, but students who are "visual/manual" learners may find ASL to be less challenging than a spoken one. There are 3 years of ASL available at SOCES, with level 3 as an Honors course.
