AP English Literature: 12th Grade
About the Class

This course engages students in the intensive study of representative works from various genres and periods, concentrating on works of recognized literary merit. This is achieved through thoughtful discussion and writing about such texts as well as complimenting and building upon the reading done in previous English courses. Students take the time to understand a work’s complexity, to absorb its richness of meaning, and to analyze how the meaning is embodied in literary form. Since reading and writing stimulate and support one another, the writing required in this course is more than a mere adjunct to the study of literature. The writing that students produce reinforces their reading and encourages them to find their unique voices as writers. (College Board).
